Calling & Vocation

I am called to be the embodiment of God’s love out in the world in everything I do.  I am a relational, broken (wounded), faithful, trusting believer, and I have many gifts and talents that I know God is using to fulfill the mission of reconciling the world through transformation.

I am an ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church where I am called to Word (proclaim), Service, Compassion, and Justice. How this calling looks is different for each deacon. I have a unique calling and passion for faith formation (helping people grow in their faith and hear God in their lives).  You may be wondering what this means and how someone lives this out. Currently I am the youth minister at Salem UMC where one goal is to help each youth explore their own faith and how to claim it as their own and discover what their relationship with God looks like.  I am also a Spiritual Director/Companion with my own ministry business.

What is Spiritual Direction/Companionship? It is a journey to form your faith more deeply. It involves working with a director/companion through conversations that tune your mind, body, and soul to hear God. As you walk with the director, you learn better how God is already working, and wants to continue to work, in your life.

While I work with people on their journeys of faith, my own journey has led down a path to work with those wanting to explore where God is on their path of loss and all the pain in grief. I am meant to help people who want to discover spiritual disciplines that may be new to their life or finding how practices they already know can become fresh to them, deepening their relationship with God.

To do this, I have started a ministry called Granted Grace. Granted Grace is about creating designated space for us to connect/reconnect with God and encourage us to learn how to receive God’s grace and give ourselves grace in life.

God gives us abundant overflowing Grace (love) and wants to be in relationship with us.  Judgment is rampant all over the world, and often we can be our own worst judge. Granted Grace is a place to take time to learn, relearn, or just to step into the process of giving yourself grace so you can live into and know God’s overflowing grace in your life.

Please pray for me as I embark on living into my call.  Check out my webpage.  If you are looking for a resource for your community, church, or yourself, I would love to talk to you.
